First time in Portland and I had a great dinner at the Rusty Nail. I was going somewhere else, and it started raining. The Rusty Nail was 50 steps from my Airbnb so I decided to give it a shot. The football game was on and there were a couple of New Orleans Saints fans sitting at the bar.
We had a ball.
I asked Phoenix what was his best dish and he said Calzones. I ordered one with spicy Italian Sausage, mushrooms, and jalapeños. It was awesome. I also had a Caesar salad that was very good. This is a neighborhood place that's not real busy but full of life. It was a great introduction to Portland.
Give it a shot! -

Awesome gorgeous fabulous pizza ! Highly recommend if your looking for great pizza . The dough is perfect, it's wood fired and generously heaped with toppings I was impressed. Sweet staff

Divey little pizza joint east of AMTRAK (USE THE ELEVATOR or Stairs, and cross the street after getting bak to ground level ) - quiet place for pizza and a Full Bar. Decent IPA and HH goes a bt later than most others in the area.. Small outdoor seating on the shady East side. I think that side is also the Wheelchair entry. Get the Code to use the Toilets.

We came here at 10 pm on a Saturday night and it was pretty dead. There was no music playing, no pool table, no dart board, no sort of entertainment. We would have stayed here longer if there was any sort of character to the bar whatsoever. But there was no decor, no music, etc. Would not come back here.

Phoenix is the star here.
He is both bartender and chef.
How does he do it?
Great dough that he makes plus great drinks.
Wow!
His dough really rocks.
I am back for calzone and a wonderful winter drink
Raspberry Hot cocoa
Cocoa, vodka, raspberry liquor
Chateau Monet
Let me just say that this place is 100% deceptive.
From the outside it looks like a dive.
Inside it's Phoenix's Place.
Cozy with inexpensive food and drinks.
Trust me.
You will be AMAZED
